Social Responsibility

Granite's eighty-year history of commitment to a strong Corporate Social Responsibility program is a real source of pride of our people. As builders, the very nature of our work puts us in a position of service to our communities. As "Master Builders" we endeavor to meet the needs of all our stakeholders, including our communities and the environment. Employee volunteerism, resource recycling programs and charitable contributions are but a few of the many ways Granite actively gives back to our communities.

"The Watsonville Senior Thanksgiving Celebration began in 1997 to commemorate Granite's 75th Anniversary. It was so successful that we've continued it each year since. It is held at the Watsonville Senior Center the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Granite employees, including many of our Corporate Officers, and their families provide all the essential functions for this event: Set up, cooking, serving and clean up. In addition, we present a financial gift to the center in an amount equal to every dollar we are under budget. This memorable event includes a traditional Thanksgiving feast and a live band for dancing. We receive many expressions of gratitude from the seniors throughout the year and they look forward to this event, as do the many employees who serve."
